What to Expect

The Homeopath’s main job is to listen to the details of the patient’s ailments as well as their mental emotional state. A Homeopath not only uses listening skills but also open ended questions encouraging the patient to speak freely and describe his/her experience of the illness getting progressively greater depth of understanding and detail of not only their condition but also how it effects them. Because the homeopathic diagnosis is based on a wide variety of factors, the Homeopath gives lots of room for the patient to describe the ailment exactly as he or she experiences it.

The aim of the homeopathic intake is for the Homeopath to observe the inner state of the patient; this inner state is unique to the individual and points to the correct prescription. The patient’s inner state is expressed mentally, emotionally and physically but it goes much deeper than that. Most of us remain unaware of our inner state in our everyday living but it is constantly expressed in the way we speak and interact with others, even at times in the content of our dreams. The seemingly inconsequential information that often comes through during a homeopathic intake is more important than the objective information and it forms the basis of the homeopathic prescription. There are thousands of homeopathic remedies, so the correct diagnosis requires a deep understanding the patient’s inner state; making Homeopathy both and art and a science!

After the Initial Visit

The Homeopath will then take all the information obtained during the initial 2 hour intake and carefully research and study which remedy will be most appropriate given the totality of the symptoms presented incorporating the whole person in the prescription; physical, mental and emotional symptoms. After such time (3-5 days) an appointment to pick up the remedy will be scheduled.

After this time you will be asked to return for follow up appointments every 4-6 weeks to carefully monitor your health complaints and the action of the remedy as well as its appropriateness to the case. The longer the patient is on the remedy the less follow ups are required and after a few months on the same remedy follow-up visits will be fewer and farther between.

Homeopathy works very subtly and the changes are permanent resulting in cure and not a mere covering up of symptoms. The individual remedy will be helping with all of your presenting concerns at the same time.
